Rome, October 15, 2020 – CEBAT has been recently awarded by a leading French contractor the project for the Horizontal Directional Drilling operations and supply and installation of HDPE pipes for an important 150 kV HVAC link in Aktio, Greece.
The project represents the first project for CEBAT in Greece and confirms the general trend in the industry, where High Voltage Underground Cables are becoming often the best option to provide grid resilience while eliminating the visual impact of overhead lines. The use of trenchless techniques such as Horizontal Directional Drilling minimizes the disruption and optimizes the cable routing, allowing for crossings of highways, rivers and other services that may be already present.
The project, awarded in August 2020, foresees more than 3 km of boreholes and the installation of more than 27 km of HDPE pipes for power cables and fiber optic and is expected to be completed by year-end.
